The Ajinomoto Group was founded in Japan in 1909 when the company's first product, Monosodium L-Glutamate, an amino acid product, was launched under the brand name of AJI-NO-MOTO® (AJI-NO-MOTO®, which literally means ”the essence of taste” in Japanese), is a seasoning product which is very popular in Asia and on the American Continents and sold in more than 100 countries. Since 1909, amino acids have been used not only in the food industries but also in pharmaceutical, animal feed, cosmetic, toiletry, agriculture and many other industries.
Today the Ajinomoto Group is considered as a world leader in the amino-acid industry with 121 subsidiaries in 23 countries and 30,000 employees.
